Gratitude

My husband started a gratitude list yesterday where he lists a few things every day for which he is grateful. I think that is a wonderful idea and it got me thinking about how easy it is to take things for granted. Sometimes I stress out about little things, like $100 water bills, and don't take time to appreciate our beautiful yard that is the result of those waterings and the time James spends each morning caring for each plant.




So I am going to make a concerted effort to be grateful for the people, places & things in my life & look for the good in all of them.

Not Pollyanna

Striving to see the good in people and situations is not naive, it is compassionate. So instead of getting wrapped up in what people are doing wrong, I say praise what they're doing right. That doesn't mean you shouldn't constructively point out better ways of doing things, but just do it in a positive way, and with love, so that everyone benefits from the experience.

I recently read the book, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho. It is a beautiful fable about following your dreams & discovering your "personal legend". Wonderfully written and one of those books that makes you hopeful and on fire for life. I highly recommend it!

Friends are the Bacon Bits in the Salad Bowl of Life.

I saw this quote online and it made me laugh, because it's so true! Last night I got to have dinner with a great friend and spend some much needed time catching up. The time spent with one of my greatest friends reminded me how important good friends are. You can survive without them, but life sure isn't very fun. Just like salad without bacon bits :-)

I've been thinking a lot over the past few weeks about what my purpose in life is - what am I meant to accomplish while I'm here? Now I don't have a whole lot of answers yet, but I do know one thing! Nothing is impossible! We can accomplish anything we put our minds to & the only limitations we face are those we impose on ourselves.

There is a perfect plan laid out for me, I just have to sit in the silence to discover the next right step. Through prayer and communion with God I can achieve my highest good. You can too!

Be Thankful for Our Great Country

What a beautiful & inspiring statement. Regardless of your politics, I think we can all agree how incredibly fortunate we are to live in this great country. This Independence Day, I will pray for our leaders and those around the globe who are struggling to protect these unalienable rights. And while I believe that our souls are, and always will be, free from any political or social constraint in this world, I will pray that all humans everywhere can experience "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
